Court takes congnizance against JD (U) MLA

Patna, July 01 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna Ms Sushma Sinha has taken cognizance against JD(U) MLA Narendra Pandey alias Sunil Pandey in a case involving intimidation of mediapersons.

Earlier, the charge sheet was filed by the Police in the court on June 29 following an FIR registered with Gandhi Maidan police station on June 24. The court had taken cognizance under sections 341 and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for restraining wrongfully and intimidating mediapersons.

The Court also issued summon to Mr Pandey and handed over the case to the court of Judicial Magistrate Shashi Bhushan Niraj for hearing.

According to the charges, MLA Mr Pandey intimidated a reporter of a private news channel when he was asked by the scribe how he (Pandey) was boarding in a posh hotel without registration on June 24.

Mr Pandey was arrested in the case and later released on bail on June 26 from the Gandhi Maidan police station in the state capital.
