Congress ready for early elections in Gujarat
Vadodara, July 1 (UNI) Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki today dared chief minister Narendra Modi to hold early assembly elections in the state.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Solanki said the Modi government seemed to be planning to go for early elections to the state assembly, but the Congress was prepared for elections at any time.
The state Congress president said his party had decided to launch statewide agitational programmes from the last week of October to expose the ''anti-people'' BJP government and its misdeeds. There would be rallies, picketings and dharnas all over the state right from the ward-level in a peaceful manner with a view to create awareness among the masses.
He said though Modi was the Chief Minister, the state had virtually become leaderless and directionless because of his failure to tackle the ''deteriorating'' law and order and other serious issues. A very few people were beneficiaries of the BJP government in Gujarat, he alleged.
Mr Solanki said the Congress party, which lost to BJP in the last elections, had now got united again from the grassroot level and was prepared for elections. Expressing optimism about Congress' return to power, he said people of the state, including farmers and traders, were fed up with the BJP government and its ''anti-people'' policies.
