Centre contemplates reopening closed coal mines
Dumka, July 1 (UNI) The Centre is considering to reopen closed coal mines to generate employment, particularly in Jharkhand.
Talking to reporters here last night, Union Coal Minister Sibu Soren, during his short visit, said the government was taking initiative in this regard considering the resultant unemployment due to closure of the mines.
Referring to the state politics, Mr Soren criticised the Arjun Munda government and claimed that it would ''collapse'' due to its own ''anti-people policy''.
''People make government and the BJP-led NDA has failed miserably to take up people friendly schemes,'' he alleged, hinting at the government's focus on inviting industries in the state.
He expressed concern over the signing of MOUs by the government and said it might lead to displacement of people.
Indigenous people would be affected the most, he feared.
Mr Soren stressed on the need on making people aware in this regard.
On formation of Jharkhand Vijash Morcha by former BJP National Vice President Babulal Marandi, the Union Coal Minister said it would not make any impact in the state politics.
