Bhajan quits as PCC chief,AICC says letter not received
New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhajan Lal resigned today as the President of the State Pradesh Congress Committee protesting against his followers having been ignored in the newly constituted PCC by the AICC,even as the Congress High Command claimed that his letter of resignation had not been received as yet.
In an unsigned and undated letter addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and circulated among journalists,Mr Bhajan Lal said that he was rsigning with a heavy heart."The recent PCC list of office bearers had broken all bounds of pateince in the heart and minds of the real Congress workers at the grass root level, who have fought every battle against the likes of O P Chautala, late Bansi Lal and the BJP to keep the Congress flag high,"he said in the letter,faxed to Mrs Gandhi at her official 10 Janpath residence.
AICC General Secretary incharge of Haryana Janardan Dwivedi said neither he nor the Party President had received Mr Bhajan Lal's resignation letter as yet. "As soon as the letter is received, it will be placed before the Congress President and whatever decision is taken on it will be communicated to newsmen." Earlier, talking to TV channels, Mr Dwivedi said no injustice had been done to Mr Bhajan Lal. He had represented the party as Chief Minister of Haryana for three times and the party had given him all the privileges.
