Berdych sets up meeting with Federer
LONDON, June 30 (Reuters) Tomas Berdych earned another crack at world number one Roger Federer today when he outlasted Germany's Tommy Haas 2-6 7-5 7-6 4-6 8-6 in the third round at at Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old Czech, who famously beat Federer at the Athens Olympics two years ago, held off the former world number two to win in three hours 35 minutes.
Berdych, the 13th seed, also came through a five-set encounter against Frenchman Fabrice Santoro in the previous round and he has now won all eight five setters that he has played in his career.
It is the third time that he has reached the last 16 of a grand slam tournament, previously achieving the feat at the U.S.
Open in 2004 when he lost to Haas and at this year's French Open where Federer ended his run.
