Bajaj Auto motorcycle sales up 40 pc in June

New Delhi, July 1: Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto today reported a 40 per cent growth in its motorcycle sales to 183,549 units in June as against 130,710 units in the corresponding period last year.

Bajaj's two-wheeler sales too saw a rise of 33 per cent to 188,231 units last month as compared to 141,316 units in the same period last year, a company statement said here.

The three-wheeler sales of the company rose by 29 per cent at 25,687 units sold in the month against 19,966 units in the corresponding period last year.

The total sales of two and three-wheelers stood at 213,918 units in June '06 compared to 161,282 units in June '05, up by 33 per cent.

The exports of the company rose by 116 per cent with 34,369 units sold last month against 15,946 units sold in the same month last year.

For the April-June period motorcycle sales increased by 34 per cent to 568,187 units as against 422,543 units in the corresponding period a year ago.

Total two-wheeler sales during the April-June period stood at 578,621 units, up 28 per cent from 4,51,661 units in the same period last year.

The exports rose by 95 per cent in Q1 of the current fiscal at 98,263 units compared to 50,493 units in the same period last year.
