Atwal continues poor run, tied 101st in Buick Championship
Cromwell, Connecticut, July 1 (UNI) Arjun Atwal hit a superb eagle on the 15 hole but it was too little too late and courtesy a horrendous front nine, the Orlando-based Indian fell by the wayside after round two of the 4,400,000 dollar Buick Championship at the TPC River Highlands here.
The one-over 71 round two was certainly an improved outing but his aggregate of three over 143 could not prevent Atwal from making an early exit. Last week as well the Kolkata-pro missed the cut at Booz Allen Classic.
Playing to stay in the competetion, Atwal undid himself by hitting three bogeys before making the turn. He hit a birdie on the 11th but nullified it with a dropped shot on the next.
His eagle on the 15th was received with a huge applause from the crowd but that was his only moment of joy as he played level par shots to crash out of the championship.
Meawhile, American Darron Stiles fired four under 66 today displace Aussie Peter Lonard from the top. Peter is now one shot off the pace.
