APCC lauds Centre for border road project
Itanagar, July 1, (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today lauded the UPA government at the Centre for clearing the Rs 912 crore Indo-China border roads from Ladakh in Jammu Kashmir to Diphu La to remove the communication hindrances in this border state.
The development package clearly indicated the positive attitude of the Centre towards border area development, the APCC quoted state Chief Minister Gegong Apang, APCC president Mukut Mithi, APCC working presidents Takam Sanjoy and Nabam Tuki as saying.
AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who chairs the cabinet committee on security, Defence Minister Pranab Mukharjee, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Finance Minister P Chidambaram contributed to the development of the border areas, the release added.
Arunachal Pradesh shares 1080 kms border with China and the border roads would go a long way in helping trade with that country which is under the Centre's 'Look East' policy.
