Amarinder favours investment in industrially backward distts
Nawanshahar, July 1 (UNI) The Punjab government would impress upon prospective investors and entrepreneurs to set up ventures in the districts of Nawanshahr, Gurdaspur and Mansa which were industrially backward.
'' This will help in providing jobs to the unemployed youth in these districts,'' Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said while talking to mediapersons here today, after inaugurating the 'Suwidha Center' and 'Suwidha Snacks' built at an estimated cost of Rs one crore in the complex of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
On the Reliance issue, he said the state Cabinet had approved the Rs 5000 crore project of Reliance Retail Limited (RLL) and an MoU would be signed shortly. Reliance will establish 350 business rural hubs in the state and this would change the entire scenario of traditional agriculture thereby bringing cheers and prosperity to the farmers, he added.
Regard construction of the Nawanshahar bypass, Capt Singh said that only four bypasses were left out, of which this bypass was also under active consideration of the government and would be undertaken soon.
Appreciating the initiative of the local administration of setting up of a 'state of the art' complex of Suwidha Centre, he said it would serve as a role model for other districts to construct such centers on the same pattern. This center was a positive step in the direction of ensuring transparency and accountability in the civil administration, he added.
