7 die in Rajasthan, monsoon in various parts of the state
Jaipur, Jul 1 (UNI) Seven people drowned in various parts of Rajasthan in the last 24 hours following the onset of monsoons in the state.
Police said two people were swept away in Sitapura village in Jhalawar district when their tractor got washed away in a flooded drain. Three other people were drowned in Nipaniya village in Jhalawar district. They went for a swim in the overflowing lake after the first monsoon rains but got drowned instead.
Two girls drowned in Moria Magri in Ajmer district when they went for a swim in the lake.
Many parts of Rajasthan experienced rains in the day due to the arrival of monsoon.
However, the state capital is yet to receive monsoon's first shower. The sun seems to be playing hide and seek in the city. With the sky overcast here, the humidity levels have increased here providing no respite to its citizens.
The weather office said monsoon is likely to become active in the whole state in the next 48 hours.
The Mahi dam in Udaipur district has received 94 mm rains in the last 24 hours. Wagon in Udaipur district has recorded 80 mm, Choti Sadri 64, Badi Sadri 57. While Arnod in Kota district recorded 62 mm, Rajkheda in Alwar witnessed 50 mm, Benra in Bhilwara district recorded 30 mm, Raipura in Jhalawar received 30 mm rainfall.
