UP govt to honour emergency detenues as Loktrantrik Senani

Lucknow, June 30 (UNI) With Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav announcing Rs 500 per month honararium for the emergency detenues of the state, it has been made official that the state government have honoured them as ' Loktantrik Senani'.

In the state Cabinet meeting here, the government approved the proposal to give all the Maintainance of Indian Security Act (MISA) and Defence of Indian Rules (DIR) detenues between June 25, 1975 to March 21,1977 a monthly honararium of Rs 500 from April,2006, free travel in UP roadways bus along with a company and to honour them as Loktantrik Senani with a citation.

There was about 10,000 MISA and DIR detenues in the state at present and the state government will have to spend Rs 5.5 crore annually to provide these facilities.

The CM had announced to give honararium and other facilities to the emergency detenues here on June 26 during the 31st anniversary of clamping of the Emergency.

In another decision, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 15 crore for organising functions in different parts of the state to distribute unemployment allowances to the youths.

The state government also recommended to the Centre to recognise Namoshudras community belonging to erstwhile East Pakistan living in two districts of Pilibhit and Bareilly as schedule caste. At present there are about 15,000 families of Namoshudras, who are genuine citizens of the country, migrated from East Pakistan in between 1952 to 1965.

On the recommendation of the UP Development Council (UPDC), the state government has waived transfer levy on industrial units through some conditions.
