Lt Col and two militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, June 30: A top Army official and two militants were killed in a fierce encounter in Bandipora area of Baramulla district today, a military spokesman said.

He said Lt Col Chouhan and two militants were killed in the gunfight at Bandipora town.

The spokesman said troops, on a specific information, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

He said as Col Chouhan entered a particular house, he was fired upon by the militants hiding there.

Col Chouhan was killed and the house was also brought down during the gun-battle, the spokesman added.
