TN Govt waiver of farm loans benefits 1.30 lakh ryots.

Tiruchirapalli, June 30 (UNI) About 1.30 lakh ryots of Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur and Pudukottai districts were benefitted by the waiver of Cooperative farm loans by the Tamil Nadu government.

Official sources today said the loans in the three districts runs to Rs 441.84 crores. The loans waived included Rs 357.41 crore given by 380 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks (PACBS) and Rs 87.43 crore by 17 Prime Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Banks (PACRDBS).

In Tiruchirapalli district alone, 138 PACBS had waived off Rs 66 crore benefitting 31,577 farmers, while five PACRDBS had waived Rs 27.65 crore due from 5152 farmers.

Similarly, in Perambalur district, PACBS numbering 114 had waived off Rs 131.19 crore, benefitting 63,860 farmers, who had taken both short term and medium term loans. The three PACRDBS in the district had waived Rs 23.39 crore.

In Pudukottai district, Rs 160.22 crore loans availed from 128 PACBS by 18,085 farmers had been waived. Besides this, nine PACRDBS in the district had waived Rs 33.39 crore loans, benefiting 6898 farmers, the sources added.
