Sonia should stop drama on inflation: Katiyar
Kanpur, June 30 (UNI) The BJP today asked UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi not to ''play drama'' with the sentiments of crores of people, who were the worst affected by the record price rise.
Talking to UNI here, BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Katiyar said yesterday's direction to the Manmohan Singh government was only a drama to befool the public.
''As UPA chairperson, the Congress president has every right to interfere in 'anti-people' decisions of the government.'' He claimed Ms Gandhi had earlier also directed the centre to reduce petro prices, but nothing was done.'' She is doing this only to divert the attenion of the masses, who are suffering due to record inflation, Mr Katiyar alleged.
''How can she disown her responsibility as the head of UPA, which is ruling the nation,'' he said alleging, the centre was helping capitalists of the country at the cost of crores of people.
''The hike in petro prices could have been checked by reducing excise duty, if Ms Gandhi was so serious.'' UNI KSP VS MSJ GC1937
