Sensex opens 154 pts up on global sentiments

Mumbai, June 30 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex) today opened in the green by 154 points at 10,316.12 points as compared to the previous close of 10,162.16 on strong global sentiments, as the US Federal Reserves confirmed there will be no further increase in interest rates in near future.

Currently, the market is trading up by 373 points at 10,535.15 points.

Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and Singapore were up by between 1.6-2.3 per cent.

The BSE sectoral indices that led the positivity on the Sensex were metals, auto, construction, banking and capital goods which were all up between 3.0 to 7.0 per cent.

Major gainers on the index were led by Reliance Communications, which was up by 6.82 per cent, followed by BHEL up by 6.74 per cent, Tata Motors up by 6.63 per cent, Maruti up by 6.43 per cent, HLL up by 5.86 per cent and Grasim up by 4.57 per cent.

There were no losers on the BSE 30 Index.

All the sectoral indices on the BSE were in green.
