Tirupati, Jun 30 (UNI) A three-day Sakshatkara Vaibhavam of Sri Venkateswara Swamy held by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) began this evening at Srinivasamangapuram, about 15 km from here.

According to mythology, after Srinivasa-Padmavathi's celestial wedding at Narayanavaram, about 40 km from here, Lord Srinivasa visited Sage Agastya's hermitage situated near Thondavada on way to Tirumala. In deference to the sage's advice to the couple to stay downhill for six months, the lord along with his consort Padmavathi settled down at Srinivasamangapuram. The deity in the temple is an exact replica of the presiding deity on Tirumala hills.

This event is observed as Sakshatkara Vaibhavam every year for three days, begining from 'ashada sudda saptami'.

On the first day today, the 'snapana thirumanjanam' (sacred bath to the processional deities) was performed this evening. The deity would be taken out on golden palanquin, 'hanumantha vahanam' and 'garuda vahanam' during the festival UNI KNR AA PK RS2218
