Reserve Bank to setup new plans for NE region
Aizawl, Jun 30 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India has taken up new measures for banks, especially in the NE region, to become more customer-friendly by setting up a new high level committee here.
Official sources here today informed that with the aim to provide quality services in North East, the RBI has constituted a High Level Group, where all states of the North East are members.
Frequent meeting of this group would be held in various states in the NE region.
Reliable registered societies and NGOs will be used as agents by banks in rural and remote areas.
The working group would emphasise on a compatible credit-debit ratio so that people in the NE region can receive more benefits from financial institutions.
On the problem of placing Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in all banks, RBI would entrust agents in remote and rural areas to solve the problem.
The bankers meet would have representatives of the different financial institutions like SBI, Vijaya Bank, UCO bank, Mizoram Coop. Apex Bank Ltd., Mizoram Rural Bank, NABARD, IDBI, SIDBI, SISI and ZIDCO.
