Ready-to-eat food to cost more in UP

Lucknow, June 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today announced to hike tax on ready-to-eat food supplied by eateries and hotels by 4.5 per cent.

The state cabinet approved the tax department proposal to hike the tax on cooked food and confectionery from 8 per cent to 12.5 per cent.

The reason behind the hike was that most of states had 12.5 per cent tax on the readymade food. UP would earn an additional revenue of Rs 16 crore with this hike.
