'Protection of cardholder data in top priority for visa customers'

New Delhi, Jun 30 (UNI) Visa Asia Pacific's Risk Management Conference 2006 in Singapore in its research report has revealed that protecting cardholder data is top priority for businessmen in India from across the Asia Pacific region.

The research was conducted among 279 merchants in 11 markets across Asia Pacific, including India, between April and May.

Paricipants in the survey considered that the protection of cardholder data was their biggest concern, with as much as 78 per cent having this opinion.

Payment card fraud came in as the second biggest area of concern (63 per cent) while identity theft was the third major concern (61 per cent).

The research carried out quantitative interviews which were conducted by Harris Interactive between April 20 and May 26, 2006 in 11 markets across Asia Pacific.

Visa has a greater market share in Asia Pacific region than all other payment card brands combined with 62 per cent of all card purchases.

There are currently 287 million Visa-branded cards in the region.
