NRI murder case: Police narrow down list of suspects

Ahmedabad, June 29 (UNI) Police have almost narrowed down the list of suspects to find out the real culprits involved in the murder of US-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) business Pankaj Trivedi (52), who was also one of the leaders of Swadhyaya Parivaar, a noted Socio-spiritual organisation.

Talking to reporters here today, Additional Commissioner of Police P K Jha said, the motive for killing Mr Trivedi has been cleared as internal power struggle of the Swadhyaya Parivaar.

Mr Jha said, these suspects are being questioned by the police and they will be also put under brain-mapping and narco analysis tests with the help of forensic experts to go the roots of cause which led to the murder of Mr Trivedi.

Mr Trivedi was murdered by four unidentified persons by assaulting him with baseball bats and sticks when Mr Trivedi came out from Ellibridge Gymkhana in posh Ellisbridge area of the city on the night of June 15.

However, when asked, the ACP said, Jayshree Talwalker, aka 'Didi', who heads the Swadhyaya Parivaar after the death of founder Pandurang Shashtri, was not being interrogated by the investigating officers as nothing substantial was found against her.

''However, if we find something against her, she will definitely be questioned. At this stage, we don't rule out any person's involvement in the case,'' the police officer added.

Mr Jha also stated that so far in investigations police have found that Mr Trivedi was also targetted with organised atttacks in the past and a series of court cases were also filed against him in similar manners.
