NPC calls for holistic approach towards development

New Delhi, Jun 30 (UNI) National Productivity Council (NPC) will help market products made by rural artisans, not only in India but also abroad on the public-private partnership model, NPC Director General Kamal Taori said here today.

''Our aim is to market the unmarketable. We are trying to forge partnerships in the private sector so that the products made by our rural artisans could be marketed properly. Foreign tie ups are also being forged in countries like Indonesia, Sri Lanka and so on. I would like to call this a PPPP model where the one extra P signifies the panchayats.'' he said while talking to media persons here.

Unemployment remains a big problem in the country. If India is to attain self sufficiency by 2020, gainful employment must be provided to the country's unemployed youth, he said. NPC views a holistic cluster development mission model for revitalising rural economy and sustained development of the agriculture sector, he added.

The NPC has been involved in activities like training, skill development and so on at the grassroots level for the revitalisation of rural artisans since the last 48 years.
