Hardwar, June 30 (UNI) National Congress Party (NCP) state unit chief Surya Kant Dhasmana said his party would contest 40 out of the total 70 seats in the coming state assembly elections.

Talking with reporters at Roorkee last evening, Mr Dhasmana alleged the Congress government in the state had failed to deliver on all fronts and the people were totally disillusioned with the ruling party.

He also demanded CBI inquiry into the sex racket, involving an influential member of the state Kala, Sahitya and Sanskriti Parishad, which was recently busted in the state capital by the police.

Mr Dhasmana also said national convention of the party, which would be attended by party president Sharad Pawar and all the MPs, MLAs, party functionaries and delegates from all over the country, would be held at Dehradun on September 16 and 17 to elect a new president and deliberate on organizational matters.
