Monsoon active in AP, more rains predicted

Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) South West monsoon brought more rains to Telangana today even as a low pressure area formed over north Bay of Bengal with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels.

''The system is likely to become well-marked and subsequently concentrate into a depression during next 2-3 days. Under its influence the rainfall activity is likely to increase over coastal Andhra Pradesh, with heavy to very heavy falls during the next 2-3 days'', Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director Satya Kumar told UNI.

''As the system is expected to move west-northwest-wards subsequently, the rainfall activity over Telengana is expected to increase'', he added.

Isolated heavy rain was likely to occur in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari of Coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours.

Moderate to rather heavy rain and thundershowers were likely to occur at most places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari and at many places over Telangana and in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers were likely over a few places over Rayalaseema.

Tekkali recorded heavy rainfall of 8 cm followed by Polavaram 6 cm, Adilabad, Jagitiyal and Kaleswaram 5 cm each, Ramagundam, Boath&Mudhol, Kunavaram 4 each, Medak, Narsapur, Nizamabad, Amalapuram and Dowlaiswaram, Dummagudem and Koida, Eluru, Kaikalur and Nuzvid Mancherial , Nirmal and Utnoor, Metpalli, Ramayampet 3 cm each, UNI SM AA SSI ARB VV2118
