Varanasi, June 30 (UNI) Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust -- managing affairs at the famous temple here -- will auction a part of its property in July.

Additional Trust CEO Radhey Shyam Pathak told UNI here today that owing to the lack of space in the temple storehouse, the Trust has decided in principle to auction some of its property like vessels and bells, either owned by the temple or donated by devotees.

A meeting of the Trust executive will be held soon to finalise the auction date, he said, adding the auction was likely to take place sometime in the third week of July.

Two month back, an auction of the vessels in the storehouse was held, he informed.

Mr Pathak said the auction would be held only after getting the objects, to be put under the hammer, valued by certified agencies.

The auction has been necessitated following a controversy regarding the alleged missing of two idols from sanctum sanctorum of the temple for the last six years.

The two idols 'Deepalakshami' housed as lamp stands in sanctum sanctorum were recovered from the temple storehouse yesterday.
