JMM leaders oppose the eviction drive

Jamshedpur, Jun 30 (UNI) Hundreds of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) activists with traditional weapons like bows and arrows today demonstrated before the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner's office to protest the administration's plan to launch eviction drive in the tribal-dominated pockets here.

The JMM activists, led by leaders like Sunil Mahto, MP (Jamshedpur), Dulal Bhuniya, MLA, party vice-president Champai Soren, MLA, and several other frontline leaders, took out a huge rally on the occasion of ''Hul Divas'', which culminated at the DC office.

Addressing the gathering, the JMM leaders said like legendary Sidhu and Kanhu, who took up arms against the British regime on this day, the party would also launch its tirade against the ''anti-people'' action jointly launched by the district dministration and Tata Steel to evict the ''sons of the soil'' from their own land.

The leaders also accused the BJP-led Jharkhand government of deceiving the people in the name of development. They alleged that the BJP and its allies were only indulging the vote bank politics and making the people fool.

They claimed only the parties like JMM and others, who took part in the Jharkhand movement, could bring the state in the path of development.
