Jammu Tawi-Jalandhar track to be completed by 2007-08

jammu, Jun 30 (UNI) The Chairman of Railway Board J P Batra today disclosed that the work of doubling of Jammu Tawi-Jalandhar railway track is in full swing and is planned to be completed by next financial year.

He said the work of doubling of Jammu Tawi-Jaalandhar track was included in the Budget of 1997-98 and necessary clearance for taking up the work was received in March 2002.

Mr Batra said the 57 Kms have already been completed on this project and during the current financial year, a target of completing 90 Kms has been fixed.

The railway Board Chairman further stated that the work on this project are in various sages of progress. An outlay of Rs 120 crore has been provided for the project during the current financial year.

He said that after the completion of this project, northern Railway would be in a position to run more trains for Jammu.
