India Seniors pips India Junior 1-0, Dasmunsi witness the match
Margao, June 30 (UNI) India seniors edged out juniors by 1-0 in a national competition exhibtion football match organised by All India Football Federation (AIFF) here this evening.
The all important goal for Seniors came at the 61st minute through Micky Fernandes. It was a long range shot by Fernandes, which hit one of the rival defender and deflected into the net.
India u-20 players, under coach Islam Akhmadov, are presently preparing for the SAFF tournament in Sri Lanka, which is scheduled for August and the senior probables soccer camp, under new coach Bob Houghton, is also currently under way in Goa from June 21 to finalise the Indian team for the international tournament in Vancouver, Canada from July 19.
Earlier, All India Football Federation (AIFF) president and Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi inaugurated the Chowgule College artificial Turf ground at Chowgule College sports Complex in south Goa and also witness the exhibtion match.
The artifical turf, is the first of its kind in India and South East Asia and imported from the USA.
Goa's Power minister Digamber Kamat, Urban Development minister Joaquim Alemao and AIFF secretary Alberto Colaco were also present at the inaugural function.
