I will stand by my employees in Delhi: Dr Reddy

Hyderabad, Jun 30: Apollo Hospitals Chairman Pratap C Reddy today said that the staff in Delhi hospital had done nothing wrong in treating Rahul Mahajan and he ''stood by them''.

Talking to newspersons here on the controversy over Mr Mahajan's treatment, he said Apollo has the best ICCU teams and they had done, what was medically correct, while treating the patient in New Delhi.

Dr Reddy said his staff did not do anything wrong by treating Mr Mahajan. ''Some mistakes might have happened in the entries but that does not amount to any mischief'', he added.

Asked about the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation to Delhi hospital, Dr Reddy said that after Rahul Mahajan's episode, JCI wanted to know, if there was any breach in patient's confidentiality, as the Delhi hospital still holds the JCI accreditation.

Asked about the future projects, he said that they are making efforts to get JCI accreditation for the hospitals in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

He said efforts were on to set-up the Apollo hospital in Bangalore by middle of October, and another at Bhubaneshwar within a year. ''We are planning to open 50 '1066 Clinics'(emergency) throughout the country within a year. Already 50 were existing in the present scenario. For all this, we would be investing about Rs 300 crore'', he added.

Dr Reddy said steps were taken to establish two hospitals in Mumbai and a hospital each in Mauritius and Fiji with the cooperation of local residents.

He said a team of Apollo Group would be soon leaving for Caribean Islands, where the group is planning to uplift a local hospital.

''The Tanzania Government also wants us to set up a regional hospital'', he added.
