Huge cache of arms, ammunition seized in J
Srinagar, June 30 (UNI) A large cache of arms and ammunition was seized by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir today, an official spokesman said.
During a search operation in Banola area of Mendhar sector in Poonch district of Jammu region, the security forces seized four AK rifles, eight magazines, 240 rounds, five rounds of 7.6 mm gun, one antenna, two IEDs, 10 mines, 20 UBGL grenades, 209 hand grenades and 20 detonators.
The security forces busted a militant hide-out and seized four AK magazines, 17 AK rounds, 132 pistol rounds, five mortar shells, two rounds of pistol (9mm), three UBGL grenades, one anti-tank grenade, one IED booster, one IED detector, two RPG shells, one landline phone and eight Hizbul Mujahideen letter pads in Zaran forest area near Banihal in Doda district of Jammu region, he added.
During another search operation, the spokesman said, the security forces seized 2 AK magazines, 47 rounds, two wireless sets, six hand grenades, two detonators and 10 mt of wire from a nursery at Shala Khud Zalpore, Sumbal in Baramulla district.
He said one upperground worker of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba was arrested by the security forces at Lawaypora, Bandipora in Baramulla district.
One UBGL, four UBGL shells and two hand grenades were seized from his possesion, the spokesman added.
