Hindu saints' conclave on July 3 in Varanasi

Varanasi, June 30 (UNI) Hindu religious leaders from across the country will converge in the holy city on July 3 to discuss among other things, an ''international conspiracy'' against Hinduism, especially in wake of Nepal being turned into a secular state and the controversy over the Amarnath shrine.

Talking to newspersons here today, Shankaracharya of Jyotish and Dwarka-Shardapith Swami Swarupanand Saraswati said the conclave will also pass a resolution paving way for the sadhus to perform the 'Parikrama' of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya.

He termed the recent events like declaration of Nepal as a secular state, controversy surrounding the Amarnath shrine and delay in the resolution of Ayodhya dispute as onslaught on Hindus. ''The conclave will discuss these crucial issues confronting Hindusim.'' The conclave is being organised by Sri Ram Janma Bhoomi Punarodhar Samiti.

The seer also raised the matter of tampering with Hinduism in the name of rewriting history in textbooks in the country and cautioned against any move to destroy the undersea bridge near Rameshwaram for paving the passage of the Centre's ambitious Sethusamudram project.

''NASA satellite pictures have proved the existence of the bridge built by Lord Ram's monkey army. Now, the centre wants to 'destory' the same bridge in connection with Sethusamudram project, but Hindus across the globe will never let it do so,'' he asserted.
