HAL joins football frenzy

Bangalore, June 30 (UNI) Aviation major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has caught up with the football frenzy and kicked-off a series of sporty campaigns to propel the spirit of the ongoing World Cup Football in Germany.

Codenamed 'Goal O' Goal', HAL has roped in its homegrown Football Team, the current Karnataka champions, for this unique event.

HAL had rolled out five themes based on football syntax like free kick, penalty shot, goal delight and team spirit, while the company's flagship product the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv's impressions over a football ground fills in the fifth slot.

Commenting on the campaign, HAL Chairman Ashok K Baweja, in a release here today, said ''Our flying machines symbolise the might and capabilities of the Nation, while our football team stands out for their commitment and passion towards the game.'' HAL Football team had finished third in the Second Division in the National Football League. HAL's two players had represented India this year and team captain Xavier V was part of the AFC Qualifying Championship at Japan and AFC Challenge Trophy at Bangladesh.

HAL was also planning a special football showdown in Bangalore city ahead of the World Cup finals in Berlin on July nine. The company's specially-decorated World Cup Football Caravan, along with its football players, would visit a few parks in the city with a series of fun-filled games for children.

''We don't want to miss this opportunity. Children and parents can look forward for this unique goal-scoring mela. Be there, score goals, play with our football team and take home prizes,'' the release said, quoting HAL Football Team Coach Krishnoji Rao, also the former Technical Director of Indian team.
