Four arrested for poaching

Dehra Dun, June 30 (UNI) Four people, including a Gram Pradhan, were arrested from Rani Pokhri last night with animal hides and other vital parts worth lakh of rupees, police said today.

SSP Sanjay Gunjyal told reporters here the Gram Pradhan of Sumai Village, Chamoli Puran Singh Rawat, owner of Garhwal Adventure Sports Club Madan Singh Rana, Virendra and Darbar Singh were nabbed for poaching.

Two leopard skin worth Rs 2-3 lakh, 3 gall bladders of Himalayan black bear, weighing 350 gm, costing Rs 250 per gm and 5 Pods of Musk Deer, weighing 250 gm, costing Rs 400 per gm were recovered from their possession.

All of them have been booked under Wildlife Protection Act, he added.
