First monsoon rains in Delhi expected within 48 hours

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) As Delhi reels under hot and humid conditions, the national capital could get its first South West monsoon rains over the next 48 hours, the Indian Meteorological Department said today.

Met Officials said conditions were favourable for the rains in the next 48 hours.

While the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, the minimum was 25.3 degrees C, three degrees below normal.

The relative humidity persisted at 86 per cent.

Generally cloudy sky with rains or thundershowers in some areas are forecast for the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to touch 36 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of East and West Uttar Pradesh, many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh and most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The northern limit of monsoon passes through Bhuj, Ahmedabad, Guna, Jhansi, Barielly, Dehra Dun, Shimla, Dharamshala and Jammu, the Met officials said.
