Farmer commits suicide following fear of crop failure

Rajkot, June 30 (UNI) A farmer of Sarapdad village of Padadhari 'taluka' in this district allegedly committed suicide, following fear of crop failure due to delay in monsoon.

According to police sources, Rameshbhai Becharbhai Patel (44) was found hanging from the ceiling of his cattle shed yesterday.

He was immediatedly shifted to Rajkot civil hospital where he breathed his last.

The Family sources of the deceased informed the police that Ramesh was tense as the groundnut crop had failed due to delay in the monsoon. The deceased had sown the crop twice.

He was in debt and was unable to bear further loss which led him to this extreme step, Haribhai, the brother of the deceased stated to the police.

Police are investigating the incident.
