Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) The ruling and opposition parties were involved in hectic electioneering as campaigning came to a close for the second phase of two-tiered elections to Panchayatraj Bodies across 11 districts of Andhra Pradesh this evening, even as Maoists called for boycott of poll on July 2.

Ahead of the polls on July 2, the ruling Congress secured five Zillla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats, as also 142 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency seats uncontested, while the TDP had to reconcile with 15 MPTC seats. As the CPI and CPI(M) contestants got unanimously elected from four MPTCs, TRS nominees won without contest in two MPTC seats.

An electorate of more than 1.91 crore voters, including 97 lakh women will choose their representatives from 1846 candidates for 515 ZPTC seats and 21441 contestants for 7676 MPTC seats in the second phase of polls.

The districts going to polls were Chittoor, Guntur, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Nellore, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and West Godavari.
