Dolo rubbishes rumours of BJP MLAs joining INC

Itanagar, Jun 30 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh leader of opposition and state BJP Legislature Party leader Kameng Dolo today rubbished the rumours doing rounds in the state that a major chunk of nine legislators of the Saffron brigade are likely to join Congress.

Pointing out that opposition has an inevitable role to strengthen democracy, Mr. Dolo told a press conference at his official residence here that BJP has been playing the pro-active role of the opposition in the state. Four of the nine BJP legislators were present on the occasion.

If the ruling Congress makes such a move it would go against them as well as the people, he said adding there was no reason for his party legislators to walk away from the party as they were united and dedicated to the cause of the people.

He lashed at the ruling Congress government for its failure in redressing grievances of the people, particularly of his under developed East Kameng district, where flood had disrupted road communication two years ago and bamboo flowering had forced the poor villagers to the brink of starvation.

The relief sanctioned for 7,000 bamboo flowering-affected families was Rs. 10 lakh and the people did not collect it, as the relief per family was meagre, he claimed and accused the government of giving "false promises" only.
