BEL gets 9 independent directors
Bangalore, June 30 (UNI) Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited has appointed nine non-official part-time (independent) Directors on the company's Board, in fulfillment of the guidelines from SEBI and the Department of Public Enterprises that 50 per cent of the Board comprise Independent Directors.
The newly appointed Independent Directors were Mr Bhupindar Singh, former Chairman and Managing Director, State Trading Corporation of India; Prof N Balakrishnan, Chairman, Information Science and Services Division, Indian Institute of Science; Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Professor (Electrical Engg), IIT, Chennai; Dr M Rammohan Rao, Dean, Indian School of Business; Mr K G Ramachandran, former Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL; Dr V Bhaktavatsalam, former Managing Director, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited; Mr Goverdhan Mehta, former IISc Director; Mr S Sadagopan, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore; and Dr S P Parashar, Director, IIM, Indore, a company release here said today.
BEL had seven Functional/Whole Time Directors -- Mr Y Gopala Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Mr P R K Hara Gopal, Director (Finance), Mr S K Mehta, Director (R and D), Mr Basavarajaiah, Director (Bangalore Complex), Mr A Muralidhar, Director (Other Units), Mr M L Shanmukh, Director (Personnel), and Mr V V R Sastry, Director (Marketing). It also had two Part Time Government Directors -- Mr Alok Perti, Joint Secretary (Shipyards), and Lt Gen Davinder Kumar, Signal Officer-in-Chief, the release added.
