B K Gupta takes over as Director General (Prisons)

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) With a premium on security Special Commissioner of Police (Security) B K Gupta, who took over as Director General (Prisons) today, said all welfare programmes initiated by his predecessors would receive his special attention.

Speaking at a function, after taking over the reins from R P Singh, Mr Gupta said the initiatives taken by Mr Singh and Ms Kiran Bedi for the welfare of prisoners would not just be continued but receive quality inputs during his tenure.

He also stressed that there would be no compromise on the security of the prisons here and all efforts would be made to put in place a fool-proof system where there was no room for complacency.

Mr Gupta, an IPS of the 1970 batch, was presently Special Commissioner of Police (Security and Armed Police).
