Ashwin Naik's remand extended till July 13

Mumbai, June 30 (UNI) A special court here today extended till July 13 the remand of gangster Ashwin Naik who has been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in a murder case.

MCOCA court judge Abhay Thipsay extended Naik's custody till July 13.

Naik's corporator wife Neeta was gunned down outside her residence on November 13, 2000 and the murder was committed allegedly at the instance of Ashwin Naik who was serving a jail sentence in New Delhi's Tihar Jail at that time Naik was brought to Mumbai from Delhi on May 17 last year to stand trial in 16 cases here, including extortion and attempt to murder. However, police booked him under MCOCA for the alleged murder of his wife Neeta after obtaining sanction from the competent authority.
