AISF criticises decision not to implement bill this year
Palakkad, June 30 (UNI) The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's reported decision not to implement the Self-financing College Bill in the current academic year is not fair, the pro-CPI All India Students Federation (AISF) said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, AISF Kerala unit president S Arun said the government's decision allowing self-financing pofessional college managements to admit sutdents in 30 per cent seats, including 15 per cent NRI quota, on their own wish would lead to "trading" in the sector.
Though the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government had allowed 50 per cent seats to the managements, it had restricted that admission of students would be only on the basis of merit and entrance examination, he said.
The reported decision would help the managements to sell the seats at huge rates, he added.
Mr Arun said a three-day state leadership meeting of the AISF to be held from July 1 to 3 at Malampuzha would chalk out future course of action.
