Agitation disrupts SER train services

Kolkata, Jun 30 (UNI) Train services on Kharagpur-Bhadrak section under Kharagpur, Rourkela and Jharsuguda sections of South Eastern Railway were disrupted for about eight hours today following agitations at Balasore, Bhadrak, Kaleswar, Rourkela and Jharsuguda stations in protest against privatisation of NALCO.

According to SER soruces here, as a result of the agitation a number of long distance trains were either detained, short terminated, rescheduled or cancelled during the day.

Among those, 8312 Ispat Express, 2859 Gitanjali Express, 8410 Sri Jagannath Express, 2074 Jan Shatabdi Express, 2842 Coromondal Express, 5625 Bangalore-Guwahati Express and 7046 East Coast Express were detained at different stations enroute,while 2821 Up Dhauli Express was short terminated at Balasore and would return as 2822 Dn from Balasore to Howrah.

As a result, the train will remain cancelled between Balasore and Bhubaneswar.

Moreover, the sources said 2074 Dn Jan Shatabdi Express was short terminated at Kharagpur and 203 Kharagpur-Bhubaneswar passenger suffered the same fate at Jaleswar, while 8034 Up ahmedabad Express had been rescheduled to leave Howrah at 1245 hours.

Normal train services, however, resumed at around 1700 hours after about eight hours of agitation.
