Afghanistan seeks India's low-cost building material technology

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) Afghanistan has sought India's cooperation in the field of housing, particularly low-cost building material technology and infrastructure.

Afghan Urban Development Minister Yusaf Pashtun coveyed his country's requirement to Minister for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja at Vancouver in Canada where she had gone to attend the World Urban Forum 111 meeting.

On returning from Vancouver, Ms Selja here said the Indian delegation had detailed discussion with Afghanistan Minister and his deputy Dr Q Djallalazada and shared their experience in housing and other urban development areas.

She said Afghanistan also wanted India's help in the development of institutional framework for housing finance and capacity building.

Ms Selja said she also held discussions with the Housing Minister of South Africa and the Canadian Minister for Human Resource and Social Development.

On her way back, she visited Rotterdam, where an agreement was signed between HUDCO-Human Settlement Management Institute and the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies-Erasmus University to enhance cooperation in international and national training, research and capacity building in housing, urban infrastructure and urban governance.
