Seven dead, 10 injured in ship-launch collision near Kandla

Bhuj, June 30: Seven people were killed and 10 others injured when their motor launch collided with a merchant vessel from Cyprus near Kandla port late last night, according to police.

Two were rescued by the workers at the jetty.

The ship, named 'Pranto Nostos', was leaving the port after unloading, when the mishap occurred. The launch was carrying people to repair another launch that got stuck in the habour due to some technical problems.

Dredging work was being carried out by a private shipping company at the port and the victims were employees of the company.

The vessle has been detained, police added.

UNI
