Vasan Health Care to invest Rs 20 cr in Kerala
Kochi, June 29 (UNI) Vasan Health Care Group will pump in Rs 20 crore in Kerala to cater to the growing need for eye care infrastructure, its Chairman and Managing Director A M Arun has said.
The group will also set up ten hospitals by next year in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Dr Arun said while addressing a press conference here last evening.
Elaborating on the plans for Kerala, Dr Arun said the group will be working on the 'Hub and Spoke' model where Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin and Kozhikode will be recognised as tertiary level centres for ophthalmology along with secondary level eye care centres to be opened at Thrissur, Kannur and Kottayam.
The group's dedicated super speciality eye hospital at Cochin will be inaugurated on July 1 by Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, he added.
Spread over 20,000 sq ft at MG Road in Cochin, the hospital will provide total eye care to patients for both anterior and posterior segment problems.
It will have four surgical theatres equipped with advanced monitoring and surgical instruments.
The hospital will provide the latest Zyoptix Laser Technique to help patients get rid of spectacles and contact lenses.
It will also run speciality clinics for glaucoma, squint, paediatric ophthalmology, orbital diseases and occuloplasty, cataract and intra occular surgery, vitreo retina and retino vascular surgery, diabetic retinopathy, cornea, low vision and computer vision syndrome clinic.
The hospital will provide free comprehensive consultation to people above 50 years till August 31. It is also planning to establish a 24-hour eye bank facility in the near future, Dr Arun said.
The group currently operates in eight locations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
