V P Singh befooled masses: SP
Lucknow, June 29 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party today accused Kisan Manch president and former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh of befooling the masses.
Addressing a news conference here, Uttar Pradesh SP unit president Ram Sharan Das claimed when Mr Singh was the PM, he had taken both the Hindu and Muslim communities for a ride.
''While on one hand, he used to assure Hindu saints that the temple would be constructed at Ayodhya, on the other hand, Mr Singh always maintained before Muslims that under no circumstances, the temple would materialise.'' Mr Das also scoffed at the former PM on allegations levelled by him in his recent book titled 'Manzil se zyada safar'.
''Mr Singh has no political stature. Under a conspiracy, he is only trying to gobble up a front of small outfits against SP to help the Congress,'' Mr Das maintained.
The SP leader said the people would not get ''befooled'' by Mr Singh this time.
