Two mill workers die in wall collapse, monsoon returns in Guj

Ahmedabad, June 29 (UNI) Two workers of Shyam Textile Mills here today died under the debris of compound wall that fell on them after heavy rains lashed the city and most parts of the State following a dry spell of about four weeks.

The two workers, who were trapped under the debris while coming out of the factory after their duty, were identified as Manoj Babu Rao (20) and Avdhesh Sobat Singh (18).

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon advanced into the interiors of the Gujarat during its second spell.

Ahmedabad received 61 cm of rain during the last 24 hours, inundating several parts of the city. Other places that received over three inches (72 mm) rainfall were Vyara (Surat district), Upleta (Rajkot), Kadi (Mehsana), Modasa and Bayad (Sabarkantha).
