Kolkata, Jun 29 (UNI) Over 30,000 taxis have gone off the roads in the city following a strike called by the Bengal Taxi Association.

The Association had called the strike demanding reduction in the cess of diesel and petrol.

The association said that the taxi fares have not increased in line with the fuel price hike.

However, the taxi owners feared that if the fares were increased many people would stop using taxis.

The office goers faced a harrowing time following the strike called by the taxi association.
