Dehra Dun, June 29 (UNI) Uttaranchal Congress president Harish Rawat today expressed concern over the recent sex scandal in the state and stepped in the party's salvation saying the person concerned had no links with the party.

''If at all any Congressman is found involved in any such immoral acts ,the party would not hesitate to admit it. However the person concerned has nothing to do with Congress,'' said Mr Rawat while addressing a news conference here.

Calling Uttaranchal a Dev Bhoomi, he said I'm deeply concerned by the incident as it is not expected in a state like Uttaranchal where government is looking forward to making it a model state.

''In such immoral incidents, probing officers would be given a free hand and protection to bring out the facts,'' he said, adding such issues should not be politicised.

At least nine people were arrested by the police including four women and so called Congressman Anand Suman, member of Uttaranchal Sahitya Kala Parishad and the Editor of a local magazine for his alleged involvement in the sex racket.

When asked about a few eminent Congress leaders who visited the Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Ms Mayawati during her brief visit to the state capital recently that raised apprehension of their shifting, he said any Congressmen interested in appeasing their grievances could do so wherever they desire to.'' Congress is strong enough to do without them,'' he said.
