Panchayats can make use of RBHC to sell products: Minister

Palakkad, Jun 29 (UNI) Union Panchayat Raj Minister Mani Shanker Aiyar today said district panchayats could market certain products through the Rural Business Hub Council (RBHC) at Delhi.

Mr Aiyar, who is here in connection with the inauguration of a 'gramin karshika mela,' told newspersons the RBHC would help the 13 district blocks to market their agricultural products and food items, specially found in Kerala, through the hubs.

The Minister said he would approach two or three business houses seeking financial help to panchayats to produce goods.

Mr Aiyar held discussions with delegates from block panchayat and district panchayat members and municipal officials in the district and said Palakkad district was the best district in implementing development work in tribal and SC and ST settlements.

Earlier inaugurating a 'mela' at Vadakarapathi panchayat in the district, he said officials and representatives from other parts of the country would visit Kerala to study the contributions made by the local self-government institutions in Kerala.
