No need for additional forces in J
New Delhi, June 29 (UNI) Army chief General J J Singh today ruled out deployment of additional forces in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the present strength was enough to foil the increasing infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the border.
''The increase in Infiltration during the months of June, July and August is normal.... The Army has enough personnel to foil the attempts of infiltrators,'' Gen Singh told reporters here.
''There is no need for additional forces in Jammu and Kashmir. We have enough jawans deployed there,'' he said.
A section of the media had reported that a high-level meeting yesterday had decided to send more troops to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of rising infiltration.
Pointing to the new strategies adopted by Pakistan to sent in terrorists, Gen Singh said terrorists were coming into India through Nepal on Pakistani passports.
He said infiltration had reduced over the years with the number coming down from thousands a few years ago to about 300 in the past two years.
